Masterclass - Contemporary Music for Percussion
• MUA290 Master Class – Contemporary Music for Percussion (normally part of a 20 unit course), 5 units.
Description
Percussion is one of the most important instrumental groups in contemporary western art music. Instrumental possibilities have been the driving force in the development of the genre. This course is for percussionists who wish to expand and deepen their knowledge of contemporary art music; the solo and chamber music repertory, its interpretation and esthetic. Participation of percussion ensembles is also possible. The repertory is chosen for each individual/group during an interview. Classes are held from June 13-19 with a final concert on the last day of class. Artistic director for the course is percussionist Jonny Axelsson, a leading interpreter of international renown in the field. Seminars and other concerts will also take place during the class period. This masterclass is held parallel with the masterclass in guitar.
Qualifications and Selection
Credentials corresponding to basic qualifications for Swedish university studies. Admission is based on an interview and submitted audio work samples on CD or casette. The work samples are judged on the basis of artistic merit and the candidates possibilities of benefiting from the masterclass, and are used (in addition to the interview) to rank applicants for selection. Applicants will be contacted for specific interview dates in mid-April 2005. Recorded material should reach us by mars 15, 2005, at the latest.
This masterclass is a Växjo Universitet, COMA/Musik I Syd joint project. Requires the participation of at least four qualified candidates. Attention! Application deadline: March 15. |
